Dustin Ackley Lands on Golden Spikes Watch List Dirtbag alumni Dustin Ackley (UNC) was one of the top 75 college baseball players to recently landed on the 2008 Golden Spikes Award Watch List. The award is sponsored by Major League Baseball.

Baseball America Names Dustin Ackley Preseason All-American Dirtbag alumni Dustin Ackley (UNC) was recently awarded preseason All-America honors from Baseball America.

Erik Lovett Named Preseason National Player of the Year Baseball America named Alumni and Mount Olive College senior Erik Lovett D-II Preseason National Player of the Year. In 2007 Lovett hit .403 with 21 homeruns and 80 RBI. He was awarded 2007 Daktonics Division II National Player of the Year, and he was named First Team All-American by ABCA, Daktronics and NCBWA.

The top ranked 2009 prospect in the USA, Matt Graham (Spring, TX) recently committed to play with the Dirtbags in the 17U WWBA, July 8-14, 2008. "Matt is one of most talented baseball players I have ever seen and more importantly he's one of the best people I have ever met. Our players and coaches are very excited to have Matt with us again in 2008. Matt turned in one of the most dominating performances I have ever seen on a baseball field in Fort Myers at the WWBA," said Coach Andy Partin.

Matt Graham Takes Home Most Valuable Pitcher Award The Dirtbag's finished National Runners-Up in Fort Myers, Florida at the PG World Wood Bat Championship and Matt Graham earned Most Valuable Pitcher of the Tournament. Graham was 2-0 in the tournament hurling 9 1/3 shutout innings. He only allowed 3 hits while pitching in the 90-93 mph range.
