Roller Named First Team All-American
Dirtbag Alumni Kyle Roller was recently named First-Team Preseason All-America by Collegiate Baseball and Second-Team Preseason All-America by NCBWA and Ping!Baseball. The left-handed hitting masher finished last season for ECU hitting .336, 16 dingers, 75 RBI and was hit by a pitch 24 times. Roller was also named MVP of the Cape Cod League in 2009.

Wes Hobson Tabbed All American
Dirtbag Alumni Wes Hobson was recently named Ping!Baseball and Collegiate Baseball Third-Team Preseason All-American. Last season for Appalachian State Hobson hit .380 with 89 hits, including 23 doubles, 60 RBI and 147 total bases. The stellar defensive specialist only made 3 errors in 270 chances for a .989 fielding percentage.

Dirtbag Alumni Sign for Over $13 Million in 2009!
2009 was a great year for our teams but equally as exciting was all of our alumni drafted by Major League Baseball teams. With 26 Dirtbag alumni drafted in 2009, not all signed contracts, but those that did combined to sign for more than $13,000,000. 4-year Dirtbag Alumni Nick McBride (pictured) signed with the Texas Rangers for $325,000. BAGS 9th in Jupiter
The Dirtbags recently finished up tied for 9th at the 2009 World Wood Bat Championship out of the top 85 teams in the USA, Canada and Puerto Rico. The Dirtbags went 4-0 in pool play outscoring opponents 25-6 before losing in the round of 16. |

Simmons Named To Stopper Watch List
Dirtbag Alumni Seth Simmons was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper-of-the-Year Award, given to the top relief pitcher in Division I baseball. Simmons was 3-1 with 9 saves last season for ECU. He punched 50, walked 20 leading Conference USA in games finished, appearances and games in relief. |
Taylor to Big League Camp
Dirtbag Alumni Drew Taylor was invited to the Los Angeles Angels Big League Camp this week. The fiesty southpaw led the entire Angels organization in strikeouts per inning with 14.6 per 9 inning. The left-hander sports a fastball that has reached 95 mph and posted a 1.23 ERA last season. |
Myers Named #3 Royals Prospect
2-year Dirtbag Alumni Wil Myers was recently named the Kansas City Royals #3 prospect by Baseball America. The stalwart catcher was also listed as the organizations top hitter for average and projected as the Royals starting catcher in 2013. This picture is from scout.com. |
Jackson Named #9 Jays Prospect
2-year Dirtbag Alumni Justin Jackson was recently named the Toronto Blue Jays #9 prospect by Baseball America. The top-tier shortstop was also listed as the organizations top defensive infielder and projected as the Blue Jays starting shortstop in 2013. |
