Dirtbags 5th at 17U WWBA

The Dirtbags let go of a 3-1 lead going into the final inning of the final 8 game at the 17U World Wood Bat Championship in East Cobb, GA. The playing field featured 192 of the top teams in the Nation. The Dirtbags reeled off 7 straight wins before falling 4-3 placing them tied for 5th. The Dirtbags outscored opponents 41-11 in the event.

"You hate to lose a game the way we did. We could not seem to get 3 outs before the other team scored 3 runs in the final inning. I feel for all of our guys and the coaches. Knowing that we were set up with arms to make the run makes it sting even more," said Head Coach Andy Partin.

"I'm very proud of our guys and coaches. Our team gave great effort throughout the event and throughout the summer so far. I assure all of our players, alumni and others that support and have embraced our program that we will continue to work hard towards bringing home a WWBA title."

The Dirtbags are the only North Carolina based team to advance into the Championship round the past 2 years. The Dirtbags are a combined 25-4-1 in the 17U WWBA since 2005 with one National Runner Up finish and two 5th place finishes.
