Maness is in his fifth season with the Dirtbag baseball program.
Maness was an All-State pitcher at Ragsdale high school. He is the all-time saves and appearance leader at Elon University. The Philadelphia Phillies drafted Maness in the 28th round. He went on to play in Martinsville (Rookie) and Clearwater (Advanced A). Maness played one year with the Chillicothe Paints as well. He was a Frontier League All-Star that year.
Now in his 6th year as an assistant coach at Ragsdale high school, Maness has helped the Tigers win at least 20 games in all 6 seasons.
Maness is an associate scout with the Philadelphia Phillies working under area scouting supervisor Roy "Bone" Tanner.
Coach Maness resides in the Greensboro, NC area. He has one daughter, Carly (left).
