3 Dirtbag Alumni Named to Brooks Wallace Watch List

Dustin Ackley (soph., UNC) pictured left, Steven Hensley (jr., Elon) and Adam Warren (jr., UNC) landed on the preseason 2008 Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Award Watch List. The Wallace Award is presented to the nation's top collegiate baseball player.

Ackley who sported a Dirtbag uniform in the summer and fall of 2005 was the 2007 National Freshman of the Year. Ackley was named first team All ACC and an All American after last season hitting .402 with 74 RBI, 10 homeruns and 20 doubles.

Hensley played for the Dirtbags in the fall of 2004. The right-handed hurler went 8-5 for the Phoenix last spring while earning second team All Southern Conference honors. Hensley was second in the league with 107 punch-outs and fifth in ERA at 3.93.

Adam Warren wore a Dirtbag uniform in the fall of 2003 and 2004. He compiled a 12-0 record while winning 2 games in the 2006 College World Series. The Bulldog sported a 2.17 ERA in 2006 for the Tar Heels in 15 games, with 12 starts.
