2010 Dirtbag standout southpaw Hobbs Johnson recently made a verbal commitment to the Tar Heels at the University of North Carolina.

2009 Dirtbag standout right-hander Sean Pope recently made a verbal commitment to the 49ers at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte.

2009 Dirtbag standout right-hander Cody Penny recently made a verbal commitment to the Tar Heels at the University of North Carolina.

Nick McBride to Pirates!
2009 Dirtbag standout right-hander Nick McBride recently made a verbal commitment to the Pirates at the East Carolina University.

Dirtbags Win IMPACT 16U World Series!
The Dirtbags defeated Team Easton in the Championship game of the 2008 IMPACT 16U World Series moving their summer record to 22-9-1. The tone of the weekend was set when Cody Penny hurled a 7 inning No-Hitter in Game 1 and Dale Innes took a No-Hitter into the 7th inning in Game 2. The Bags only gave up 5 runs in 5 games.

Dirtbags Win IMPACT 18U World Series!
Bags Win 15-4 in Championship Game
The Dirtbags defeated the Hurricanes North 15-4 in the Championship game of the 2008 IMPACT World Series and pushed their summer record to 33-4. The Bags went 6-0 during the event outscoring opponents 60-13 while twirling a Perfect Game and a No-Hitter during the event.

2009 Dirtbag standout right-hander Parker Thomas recently made a verbal commitment to the Tar Heels at the
University of North Carolina.

16U Bags 3rd at WWBA
Hobbs Johnson Earns Most Outstanding Pitcher Award

The 16U Dirtbags finished up tied for 3rd at the 16U World Wood Bat Championship out of 138 teams. The Dirtbags reeled off 7 straight wins before falling 8-2 in the final four. 2010 southpaw
Hobbs Johnson earned the MVP award pitching 13 innings giving up 6 total hits and 0 runs.

Phil Maier Joins Coaching Staff
Head Coach Andy Partin is pleased to announce that Phil Maier has joined the Dirtbag coaching staff. Maier spent the last 11 years coaching college baseball, the past seven at High Point University where his staff broke the school strikeout record in 2007. "This is an exciting time for the Dirtbag program. I've known Phil for quite a while now when he was coaching at High Point. He's a super person and a tremendous baseball mind. We couldn't be happier to welcome Phil and his family in to the Dirtbag family," said Partin. [more...]

2009 Dirtbag standout outfielder Will Henderson recently made a verbal commitment to the Spartans at the UNC-Greensboro.

Brian Goodwin & Matt Graham Named Aflac All-Americans
Dirtbag standouts Brian Goodwin (left) and Matt Graham were recently named Aflac All Americans and will play in the premier high school All-American game in the country Saturday, August 9th in Dodger Stadium. Goodwin and Graham join Garrison Lassiter (UNC) as the three Dirtbags who have been awarded this honor so far.

Hunter Ridge to Seahawks!
2009 Dirtbag left-handed hitting standout Hunter Ridge recently made a verbal commitment to UNC-Wilmington. Ridge joins the Dirtbags this fall.

Dirtbags Add Cody Penny to Staff
The Dirtbag's 17U program recently signed top-shelf right-hander Cody Penny for the summer and fall. Penny is a 2009 graduate from perennial powerhouse South Caldwell high school and is listed at 6'-3" and 195 lbs and will join the program this weekend at Wake Forest University. [more...]

Dirtbags Win Firecracker Classic
The Dirtbags 17's were crowned Firecracker Classic co-Champions for the second time in four years. The championship game was called due to rain in the third inning with the Dirtbags leading the Maryland Select 2-0. Using wood bats, the Dirtbags outscored opponents 46-9.

was named the #31 prospect in the Cleveland Indians organization. "Morris is a fierce competitor on the mound, and his makeup is off the charts," according to Cleveland Indians personnel.

Erik Lovett Named Preseason National Player of the Year
Baseball America named Alumni and Mount Olive College senior Erik Lovett D-II Preseason National Player of the Year. In 2007 Lovett hit .403 with 21 homeruns and 80 RBI. He was awarded
2007 Daktonics Division II National Player of the Year, and he was named First Team All-American by ABCA, Daktronics and NCBWA.
 
Justin Jackson Named Top 10 Prospect in Blue Jays Organization
Dirtbag alumni Justin Jackson landed in Baseball America's "Top 10" prospects in Toronto's system. BA says "
...he's Toronto's shortstop of the future." The standout was drafted in the 1st RD-Supplemental in 2007.

After being traded from the Brewers to the Padres, Dirtbag alumni Will Inman landed in Baseball America's "Top 10" in Padres system. BA says "He's a fierce competitor." The right-hander was drafted in the 3rd RD in 2005.
